IRISH SALT MINE MANAGER’S BUILDING

Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland | 2016-Present

The mine operations building is a two-story building that supports the operations of a large subterranean room and pillar salt mine. The ground floor program and car dock are dedicated to mine surveyors, supervisors and safety officers, who require efficient access to subterranean operations. Administrative operations of management, pier monitoring, and sales are located on an elevated second level to allow visual oversight of the ship berth and surface operations. Earth mounds were created around the building to create immediate access between the second floor of the building and the surrounding landscape. Local architect: Knox & Clayton; builder: THP Construction
